Fatal Stabbing Near Mission Viejo Mall Gang Related, OCSD Says

MISSION VIEJO, CA — One man has died after a double stabbing at an apartment complex near the Shops at Mission Viejo late Wednesday.

Two people suffered stab wounds, according to Lt. Lane Lagaret of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Arriving deputies found two male victims with stab wounds, and paramedics transported them for hospital treatment, Lagaret said. One had suffered a stab wound to the throat and the other suffered a stab wound to the stomach, Lagaret said.

"One of the men died at the hospital, and the other remained hospitalized," Lagaret said. "The attack was believed to have been gang-related."

The double stabbing was reported at just after 9 p.m. Wednesday in the 28000 block of Marguerite Parkway, according to a desk officer.

Arriving deputies found two male victims with stab wounds, Lt. Lane Lagaret said.

Shops Boulevard was closed to the public early Thursday as evidence was being collected, the desk officer said.
